Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or choosing to self-pay have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of mental health services.

A Good Faith Estimate outlines the anticipated charges for psychotherapy services based on the information available at the time of scheduling. This estimate is provided before services begin and may be updated if treatment needs change.

Self-Pay Fees at Brightleaf Counseling (Effective December 2025)

The following fees apply to clients who are not using insurance:

  • Initial Intake Session: $90

  • Individual Counseling Session: $80 per session

Fees are due according to the practice’s financial policy. Additional services not listed (such as extended sessions, letters, or reports) may incur additional charges.

What You Can Expect

  • The estimate includes the cost of scheduled therapy services, such as intake and ongoing counseling.

  • Actual costs may vary depending on clinical needs, number of sessions, or additional services requested.

  • You may request a new or updated Good Faith Estimate at any time.

Your Rights

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
